He threw three interceptions, didn't fumble and was sacked two times. Newton added 71 rushing yards on 11 carries and scored one touchdown on the ground.
Analysis: Quarterbacks are often responsible for wins and losses, and Newton shares a good deal of the blame for this defeat by making costly turnovers and struggling to push the ball down the field for much of the night. It's still a pretty solid fantasy performance, though, thanks to his excellent rushing totals. The 2015 NFL MVP now has three rushing scores in his last four games along with seven TD passes over his past three, numbers that should keep him in weekly lineups.

Analysis: Newton threw his first TD pass since the season opener, averaging 10.9 yards per attempt after being at 6.8 in his first three contests. Next week, the Panthers are on the road to take on a Lions team which has picked off seven passes and allowed just four TDs through the air.

Analysis: It's been a very rough start to the season for Newton, and if Kelvin Benjamin is out for any extended period, you'd be wise to sit Carolina's QB.

He played only one series -- a 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive when he completed both of his passes for 21 yards and a TD -- during the four preseason games. "I think he's ready," Rivera said. "You wish he'd had a few more snaps and played a little bit earlier in the preseason so we'd have more to go on. But what we saw, we liked.
